Being inspired by the sea and Monet paintings, I wanted to create a painting that reflected both the sea and Monet. Using a round tip brush and thick amounts of paint, I started to use the impasto painting technique, which also creates the idea that the sea has movement of waves. This painting creates the idea that the viewer is under the water as the white paint represents the light given by the sun and the dark blue represents the bottom of the ocean, implying the idea of an abyss like quality as it creeps up the edges of the canvas.
