Sea Painting, 2018

To create this painting, I used sea water and thick amounts of acrylic paint. To start the process, I first washed the canvas board in sea water before thickly applying the acrylic paint. Whilst the paint was still wet I poured an entire jar of collected sea water onto the canvas to see how the paint would react to a heavy amount of water. The water started to move the paint around the canvas, when the water started to soak into the canvas allowed the paint to settle in different areas of the painting. This created a painting that had its own movement created by the ‘sea’. The idea behind this painting was to start to move away from using rain to experiment with other types of water in nature.
